Habitat for Humanity - Letter from our President

March 2017
Overseas Container Forwarding announces charitable partnership,
and a chance to a win a trip to volunteer.

Dear fellow member,

On behalf of the team at Overseas Container Forwarding Inc. (OCF), I am pleased to announce that we have teamed with Habitat for Humanity Canada in a two year charitable partnership, working to tackle the global affordable housing crisis in countries less privileged than our own.

As OCF operates on an international basis, we decided it was time to take action and help support families and communities in less fortunate parts of the world. We will donate $5 to Habitat’s Global Neighbours Program for each and every less-than-container load (LCL) consignment that we handle between Jan 1st, 2017 and Dec 31st, 2018 with a commitment to a minimum donation of $100,000.  The Habitat for Humanity Global Neighbour’s Program is making a huge difference around the world and it makes good sense for us to offer them our assistance. As the timing also marks the lead up to OCF’s 40 year anniversary, we feel it is a great opportunity to give something back.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps provide housing in more than 70 countries. Working in partnership with communities all over the world, Habitat Canada helps families access safe, decent and affordable housing as well as building improved sanitation facilities and infrastructure projects that have transformed entire communities. In one year, Habitat Canada’s Global Neighbours Program helped over 1300 families through the building of new homes and critical housing repairs in countries such as Ethiopia, Haiti, Cambodia, El Salvador and Honduras.

To fully appreciate the impact of our donation for families around the world, I’m excited to share with you that OCF will provide a Habitat Global Village trip to one of the communities that the Global Neighours Program supports. This will be a life-changing opportunity, which would see the winner join volunteers from around the world, working hard to build safe, decent housing for families in need, and see firsthand the impact of this charitable investment.

More details will follow at a later date on our Acting Locally – Impacting Globally initiative including how you, as an employee of a CIFFA member can enter to win the Global Village trip being sponsored by OCF, and independently adjudicated by CIFFA. Updates on the status of our donation and areas in which this donation is having impact will be available to you on www.ocf.ca.

Together, we hope that the small steps we are taking will turn into something greater and make a very real difference.

Sincerely,

Pete Hilton,
President and Founder of Overseas Container Forwarding
